Teen Fashion Design Academy starts classes

There are a number of teens who love to keep up with the latest fashion trends, and some would love to be able to design their own clothes one day. In Livingston, New Jersey, a new program is starting for these students who are looking to make a splash in the fashion industry.

The program, Teen Fashion Design Academy (TFDA), lets these students learn about the industry through classes, workshops and events.

The TFDA was originally created for the aspiring fashion designers who knew what they wanted to do at a young age. In addition, it is for those who are looking for a creative outlet. Not only will they be able to take classes in the field, but will also put what they learned to work as they create looks for the end of the year fashion show.

Prospective fashion designers may also want to know what they will be making once they start off their career. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual median salary for professionals in this field was approximately $61,000 in 2008. However, the top ten percent were making $125,000 and more, so there is definitely room to grow.
